What is Online Maintenance Service? |
With the installation of GMDSS instruments and IBS, navigation instruments have become more sophisticated and more easily operated. On the other hand, Communication and navigation equipment have also become more systemized and complicated, causing a greater maintenance burden on the crew. With the wreck of the Erika and in view of other marine perils, Port State Control (PSC) is intensifying spot inspections and in many cases navigation is suspended due to malfunctioning communications and navigation equipment.
Under such circumstances, there is a growing demand from ship owners and shipping companies for quick and reliable repair and maintenance in order to maintain a punctual and safe navigation schedule.
As the solution to this problem, we offer online maintenance support aiming at reducing the customers' maintenance expenses and inactivity losses by shortening the Mean Time to Repair.
With this service, our service center monitors and diagnoses operating conditions of various onboard instruments by way of an INMARSAT Satellite Link. When our service center detects that a repair is necessary, we notify the customer and repair the instruments at a nearby port of call after obtaining the customer's consent.

Merits of Online Maintenance service |
In the online maintenance system, onboard equipment is connected to an onboard network and self-diagnosis data from each equipment alarm information and other data are accumulated in an onboard server. Our service center regularly collects the data by polling, using an INMARSAT-C Satellite Link. Our service center monitors the data and when we find any abnormality, engineers from the manufacturer of the onboard instrument will analyze and diagnose the problem. By contracting this system, you will benefit from the following merits. |
| 1. |
Onboard instruments are monitored free of charge during the warranty period. |
While onboard instruments are under warranty, our service center monitors the operating conditions of the instruments free of charge.
In addition, engineers of the onboard instruments diagnose and analyze the instruments when necessary and report the results at no cost to you. We bear all the expenses for operation, such as the expenses of acquiring and operating DNID, which is necessary to use the Polling service of INMARSAT-C Satellite Link, and polling and data-reporting expenses, not to mention personnel costs for this monitoring.
| 2. |
Preventative Maintenance |
This system regularly and automatically collects operating data from onboard instruments from the shore. If anything unusual is found in the data, we can take care of it before the equipment starts malfunctioning.
We can also advise you when perishable supplies in your equipment (magnetron etc.) need to be changed.
| 3. |
Quick and reliable repair service |
In case of trouble, we can repair instruments quickly and reliably. Specialists clarify the causes of the problem and take counter-measures based on data collected from the ship and prepare the necessary parts for repair before visiting the ship. |
| 4. |
Maintaining a punctual and safe navigation schedule |
Because we regularly monitor instrument alarm status and have a worldwide service network, we can reduce the Mean Time to Repair. We can therefore help you in maintaining a punctual and safe navigation schedule. |
| 5. |
Management Support |
Ship owners and shipping companies are sent a quarterly report showing service records such as operating records and repair records of onboard instruments for the contracted ships. |

Service Network |
We maintain a worldwide service network. Our service network consists of the Asia / Oceania Service Network based in Tokyo, Europe/Africa Service Network based in Amsterdam, and America Service Network base in Seattle.
By connecting your ships to this worldwide service network via a satellite circuit, we assure you a stable supply of parts and quick maintenance.
